WELCOME TO The American Hotel & Banquet Room
The American Hotel was built in 1855 by the Central Virginia Railroad Company, in the Wharf area of Staunton Virginia. The Hotel offered the ultimate in convenience for their eager passengers. Now the American Hotel offers much more as a Virginia banquet hall and rehearsal dinner site perfect for your Virginia wedding or business meeting.
The American Hotel is located at 125 South Augusta Street, Staunton, Virginia, directly across from the historic train station in the downtown Wharf area. Staunton is within thirty minutes of Charlottesville, Virginia or Harrisonburg, Virginia, all near the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
In 2003 Emerald City L.P transformed the building into offices, retail space, restaurant space, and the Banquet Room. The American Hotel now has a multi-door elevator for each floor along with other health and safety upgrades to the building. A two story parking garage was built during the renovation process with access to the top parking deck from Augusta Street and the train station. The lower parking deck is accessed via Mill Street or New Street.
The American Hotel Banquet Room is kept in the style and era of the 1850’s Grand Ball Room. The Banquet Room staff will work with your Wedding Professional, Caterer, and other members of your wedding team, offering you the Ceremony, Reception, Rehearsal Dinner or any combination you require. Weddings and Things Catering is located on premises, however you are welcome to provide any caterer or catering you like. Let the Banquet Room provide the setting of your dreams for your special day.
The American Hotel is now home to Professional offices, Cafe and the Grand Banquet Room.
The Grand Banquet Room is available for Wedding Receptions, Ceremonies, Rehearsal Dinners, Anniversaries, Civic Events, Meetings, Family Reunions, Party’s, and much more.
All caterers are welcome.

Currently: We have Second Floor Space Availability. 1776 sq feet totaling 2256 sq ft with common space: Three offices with large conference Room and Storage area for files, Xeroxing , server installation and the like. Large entrance foyer including modern kitchen area with built in cabinets. Foyer is large enough to convert some of the space into a fourth office leaving enough space for a Receptionist and Waiting Area.
